Is Zone Alarm better than the firewall that comes with XP. If yes, by how much (little or a lot better).

Yes, a lot because it's capable of keeping things in as well as out. If some spyware does get onto your computer, when it tries to phone home ZA (properly configured) will see it and either block it or ask you about it. XP Firewall's not to that point yet.

It's been a while since I used ZA, but it used to be able to "learn" as well. That is, when it saw a connection neither allowed nor denied it would deny but ask if you wished to handle it.
