Hi there. :eyes

I am about as new to digital photography as they come. I have recently purchased a wonderful canon camera and am having some trouble taking inside photos with the flash. I was wondering if anyone has any advice for me, whether it be about flash usage in general or if someone else has a camera like this and is having the same trouble.

I basically have alot of trouble taking photos inside as everyone's faces in the shots tends to be too white. I step away from the subject and all faces are still way toooooo white. I have tried turning the auto flash off, but then everything goes too dark. I know there is probably a very simple answer out there, but I am just got getting anywhere. Your advice will be greatly appreciated.

Hope everyone has a merry christmas.....

Your camera has a Flash Exposure Compensation (FEC, shows up on the settings LCD as a lightning bolt with +/- next to it). Is that on? And what camera mode are you shooting in?

Hi there.

I was originally shooting in AUTO, but then started using AV. I have taken your advice and the camera the flash is working out alot better now. Thank you.

Happy New Years.

I have the same camera, and the biggest issue for me is shooting in the dark. This camera really is scared of the dark, isn't it? :(
