Hi, I'm a newbie in flash photography, I want to achieve something like this photo. What settings do I need to use on my xti and 430ex?? thx a bunch.

Generally for outdoor fill, I use Manual mode on the camera. Set your shutter at X-sync speed (1/200 for the RebelXTi), ISO 100, adjust aperture for the ambient exposure you want. On a sunny day you'll be around f/11.

Put the flash in E-TTL mode and adjust FEC to get your desired amount of fill. I'm usually between 0 and -2/3.

Use direct flash and don't bother with diffuser/bouncer type attachments.
