All shot with 20D, typically f/2.0 and 1/320s with 85/1.8 and 135/2.0 lenses. No flash/strobes. Feedback welcomed.

nice work, Im a fan of tighter shots, but Ive notice for college bball they like body, face, number, shoes, court all in one shots, I may be wrong...I know my school is likes them, they grunt if I cut off a foot or something...haha
WB/color look great...I just got back from walmart, printed off my first bball pics from the 20d, all the prints I chose were iso1600 and other than yellows in the background and a few midtone shadows around he necks/chins I cant notice any noise at all on 8x10

I've been following your work and your thoughts about shooting bbal (here and elsewhere). I really think you're doing well - even when you're not satisfied. I know the issues you mentioned. Fortunately, I'm not trying to please an editor. I understand what they want - but it's not what I look to shoot.
Any bbal shot is a challenge - no matter what the lens and field of view. I don't happen to like the 50mm, baseline view. I prefer a longer lens, tighter shot, with emphasis on the player's effort and emotion.
I'm just really starting (2nd season) and trying to find my style. Each game I usually try something different. We'll see how things progress as the season matures.

i cant shoot with the 50 for bball either, although under the rim wide a wide lens makes for some pretty cool shots...
80% of the time I have the 85mm on...love love love that lens.
the 135 would rock for those upper body shooting the ball from around the 3pt line shots...right as the balls tucked over th ehead before the release, the 85 just doesnt get me there
keep it up...i have 8 days till my next game and NOTHING to do since I didnt get a fulltime job for the xmas break which I will soon regret...I plan on flipping through every single sports magazine/book/website I can to study what I like and dont like...
