Question for bee shooters...

I'm amazed at the incredible images you all produce. Esp those of you with the MPE-65.

I was wondering, do you ever pre-focus on one flower, and "wait" for a bee to arrive, instead of trying to follow them around in flight, and "hope" that they land, and stay long enough for you to get some good images? Also, are most or all of your bee photos taken with flash, fill-flash, or natural light? Thanks.

Think most of the shooters using the MPE-65 will be using full flash. As for how- it depends on the bee - some bees like nomada, miner and mason bees regularly take a rest on favourite spots often leaves where you can sometimes catch them, otherwise I think it's better to wait by a flowering plant that they are visiting rather than try to follow them around (that normally scares them off).
You should be able to get good natural light/fill flash shots at 1:1 or less. but obviously keep the shutter speed up.

if your using full flash its pointless using shutter speed higher than 200 or 250 depending on what your camera does..200 is normally the highest the sync flash goes.so setting shutter any higher than 200 is pointless really.unless your not using a flash :) or you have high sync set on your flash.
