Rig: A 2x4 cut into a 1' section with a 5/8 bolt coming out of one end. Camera goes on the bolt, and I stand on the other side of the rig.
Not that happy with it. Im gonna try again tomorrow and do some improvements with the rig.

Wow, I think that's a pretty cool shot. Do you have a picture of the rig you used?

I plan to make it longer, and try to make a way to attach it to the board.

Wow, that's pretty good idea. I would be way to affraid to put my camera out on that though while I was cruising. (I suck at skateboarding, :) )

Love the idea dude, are you holding it down with your foot?

That looks risky to put your 1D on there, but it's a cool shot :)

It is not about going fast on that kind of shot. It is actually about going slow. You want to fool the camera by giving it a long exposure and letting the object basicly crawl. The smoothest surface possibe makes for a great shot like this one. GREAT SHOT!!!!!!!!! You did that with a 1D? Man you got a big pair! I would not do it. Well maybe, alright I probably would. Once again Great Shot!

You guys shouldnt be worrying so much about the 1D as you should the poor concrete it falls on and destroys :)

Thanks guys!
I was holding with my foot. I had the rig angled back some, and the camera angled towards me.
I've been skateboarding for 3 years, so Im fairly comfortable. (not being sarcastic) Its only maybe 2" off the ground, so im not worried. Im also one of those people who use their camera, not just take pictures of boxes and whatnot ;)

Very nice shot! Love the curving sense of movement. Have you tried this with a fisheye? It would be cool as long as you didn't get the rig in the picture.

Good idea, but they only fisheye I have is one of the screw on ones. it only fits a 58 filter ring, and the smallest I have is 67!

Nice idea.
As a suggestion you might consider getting a magic arm with a super clamp to mount it to the board. This might make it easier to keep stable and would also give you some flexibility to change the angle of the camera for different looks.
Again, nice work and good luck.

Magic arms are not cheap for what they are, but they are amazingly useful and the best option period for remote work. They are definitely more useful then even my wizards (you can always run zip line).
Note: If you do get one, get the one with a "variable friction" knob....the others are basically junk and hard to use.

Excellent point that I failed to mention. I would even go as far as to say the others are not basically junk, they ARE junk.

This is a win.
Once you get it all figured out, go get some new kicks and make a day of it.
