The light was a bit harsh. Thoughts on handling bill shade, as well as, c&c appreciated.

These are very nice. Not much you can do with the bill shadow without blowing out the rest of the photo. Nice timing and action.

Great shots. #1, 3 and 5 I like most. Were these shot with your 100-400?

Thanks!
#2,3,4 & 5 were the 100-400L. #1 & 6 were shot with the 70-200 2.8IS + 1.4TC. Some spotty clouds came in later in the game and I wanted the extra stop.

Just as a side comment on the 100-400: In the past, I've criticized my copy for being a little soft at the high end, 350-400mm. A few weeks back, I came across a comment that the OP's copy tended to be soft at the upper end when using a filter. So I went nude on this shoot, and I see a marked improvement at 400m uncovered vs. with a UV filter.

Nice results. Maybe I should try my 100-400L.

I only use it on very bright days, to keep my shutter speeds up at f/5.6. The range really helps when I'm shooting both teams. I try to avoid using it for hitter's poses since it doesn't do as good a job separating the backstops. But for runners, or fielding shots, it works well.
