Exported a few pics to send to my mom tonight and when I opened up the jpgs in email, they looked very different from what was in LR? I've this hundreds of times and never noticed a difference.

why would this be?

Here is the email version stacked on LR:

Could be working with different colour profiles? When in CS3, I always make sure I'm on sRGB before I save. I don't use lightroom.

nice call.
it exported prophoto rgb.

that leads a to a new question, when and why would one use prophoto RGB?

Read the link from my sig ;)

If you're going to use ProPhotoRGB, use 16bpc!

Sort of the same answer as "why would I shoot in RAW rather than JPEG".
Why throw away information from your pictures before you export them?

I think ProPhoto is overkill. 13% of the colors are imaginary and can't be reproduced in any medium. AdobeRGB is large enough.

well lightroom edits in prophoto, so lots of us cant choose what to work in, it ends up being nice srgb files anyways.. you just edit them in the higher space to conserve edit flaws.
