Can you set a long (30 second+) exposure and also use the self timer to avoid shake? AKA a cheap alternative to the $20 remote shutter.

You can only go up to 30 seconds with the self timer, anything more requires a remote release cable to use the Bulb shutter setting.

You can go up to 30 seconds and use the self-timer. Beyond that, you'll want a shutter release cable.

Can you set a long (30 second+) exposure and also use the self timer to avoid shake? OK, I feel a <rant> coming on. Given that all the info you get from any forum isn't always the best, why didn't you just try it & see if you could? ;)

Had just walked the dog in the canals, saw what would be an awesome picture but it was late and I needed sleep. I knew by making this thread it would remind me to do it this weekend.
Ok ok, laziness. :o
