I want unlimited video with the A40 camera versus the 30 second video they limit you to each video shot. I want to be able to use up the memory card with one long shot if possible to create small movies that last a few minutes.
Is there any software I can download to do this? I would think it would be possible since there is no real limitation of that... just sofware limitations.

there is video editing software included with the camera on the second cd. I forget what its called but it is there and you can make your film as long as resources allow i guess.

I think it's really a hardware limitation rather than software: the data buffer and compact flash can't keep up with the data coming in, so when the buffer overloads, the recording stops...
That's why the new Canon digicams recommend their own fast CF cards if you want to record long movies... But even those digicams are limited to about three minutes or so....
If you want to record long movies, buy a videocam!
