View Full Version : Setting up the WFT-E1 Wireless Transmitter (How To document)

I have been using the WFT-E1 for a while now, and always thought what a nightmare it has been actualy getting it connected, via an FTP server, to a laptop.

Well, I've finally got round to creating an instruction document, explaining in detail, via text and screen-shots, exactly how to connect and run one of these devices.

I'm not saying that this is the only way to connect it, but it works for me. Anyone spot any mistakes - please let me know!

Please note, to fit within the forum guidlines, the attached .pdf has been compressed, so images may appear a little "fuzzy" in places - in which case try adjusting the magnification in your .pdf viewer.

Enjoy!

[Edit] Now also using the WFT-E2 with my 1DsMkIII - and everything works perfectly. Setup is almost identical. I didn't use the "wizard" - just entered the numbers in the same (more-or-less) boxes. If anyone needs any help, please PM me and I'll do my best to assist.

Thanks, TJ! Link added to this from the EOS FAQ.

The WFT-E1 is used by the 1D II, 1D IIn and !Ds II, as well as the 20D, 30D and 5D. The basic procedure TJ's described, followed carefully, should work for any of these although menu specifics may vary slightly depending on your router, operating system, and camera model.
