Very nice Lawson. #2 reminds me of some places around where I live. My family comes from the Isle of Skye (well about 150 yrs ago) and I'd very much like to visit Scotland sometime.

Nice!
Do those standing stones have anything in common with Stonehenge?

Nice!
Do those standing stones have anything in common with Stonehenge?Check this site out (http://www.stonepages.com/scotland/scotland.html) for more information on Scotlands Stone Circles etc. Some great photos there
Beauties.
I moved to Scotland from England 2 years ago and live on the North East Coast.
Scotland is a landscape photographers dream. I've seen more incredible scenery just driving around working in the last couple of years than I have in a lifetime before that.

Just some info on the standing stones extracted from the site I linked in my earlier post. Now thats what you call history!:
'This site dates from about 1800 BC, but precise dates and proven functions have been hard to establish. Callanish I consists of a 13.1 x 11.3m (43 x 37 ft) circle of 13 tall slender Lewisian gneiss stones. In the middle is another stone, the tallest of all (4.75m/15 ft 6 in). Four incomplete avenues lead away, with single rows of stones to the east, south and west, and a double row just east of north. Had all the rows been completed, their axial alignments would have converged at the centre stone.
Inside the circle are the remains of a chambered round cairn of Neolithic type, but archaeologists are undecided whether this was built before or after the stone circle and stone rows.'

I beleive stonehenge is 5000 years old, and callanish 4000 years old.

Beautiful photos of Scotland. These bring back memories of the early sixties when I was stationed in Holylock with the USS George Washington - SSBN-598. Happy holidays to all..
