I've been asked to photograph a gymnastics inner-team competition and want to be able to print the photographs at the competition itself.

I'm a Mac user and am looking into what type of printer you use if you print at a competition. I am looking for quality, speed, and reliability.

Also, do you have a workflow you recommend? How do I get the shots from the camera to the computer to what then--a proof sheet or what?

This is not a big deal for the kids it is just to keep them sharp. I want to give the parents the quality they would expect at a big meet along with the professionalism.

I have done several gymnastics meets and printed on site.

My wife and father-in-law worked the table and took the cards and downloaded them using Downloader Pro (Breeze Systems) renaming with sequence #'s starting at 1 since I had 2 photographers. We would then use Breeze Browser to view the pictures, trash the obviously OOF shots, and put in their respective folder according to how we had them broken up.

We then printed proofs and had them in binders for the customers to look at an order from.

We printed 5x7 onsite with HI-Touch printers. The are fairly fast and economical. Matter of fact I have 2 730PL's that are available for sale if you are interested. If so PM me and we will discuss.

I have since purchased the 5 minute photo software to have viewing stations for customers to look at pictures. This is 10 times easier and I don't have to worry about the expense of ink and paper just for proofs.

Don't know how or if any of this works with MAC, as I am a Windows man and proud of it. :)
