That works! Good shot!
I still like the one you posted the other day the very best, it was suggestive enough to be inticing but not overboard.

I don't do dark-ish very well, but I think I have one that might work, I'll go try and see what I come up with.
Scratch that idea, the only darkish ones I have are the ones where the flash failed! lol

Kathy, you are a hottie, girl.... love the photos!! How do you get your lighting so dang perfect every time??
We are home **sigh** but had a glorious time. Even tho we weren't allowed to get close to the volcanoes, we had an amaing time watching them. The Sulfur content of the clouds was too toxic and some of the land (43 acres) had recently fallen off the island into the ocean so were were kept about 3/4 mile away from any volcanic activity.

Wow Mo those are spectacular! I have never been to Hawaii, been in nearly every other state but not there, maybe someday.
And for the record, I am no hottie. LOL I am better than botox with the healing brush and pro retouch action and I NEVER dress like that one on the stool, plus I would break my neck if I tried to actually walk in those shoes. It's all for a play with a local drama troupe.

Maureen awesome shots!
Kathy I dunno, you look Hawt to me! :-)
Because it was going to rain I did not take my camera in BUT...I picked up a Fuji disposible camera and used it, we had fun, we were so TOURISTS!
We went to donut plant, serious, one step away from the river on Grand Street. Organic donuts and you will see a pic after then are developed (can't believe I did that). Shoving one of those bad boys into my mouth!
We got back to Jersey, found Italian to eat and now we are relaxing!

I had quite the day. Two senior girl sessions and both of them were exhausting. The second one way abused the deal, actually her mom did. I give each senior a two hour booking, even though it usually only takes a bit over an hour. This mom wanted pictures of her daughter in some of the most out of the way places ever. And she wanted to completely redo her hairstyle with each clothes change/location. I wanted to scream at her about halfway through, but I didn't because I am a big chicken!:p

Thanks, Jim. Unfortunately we had to stay far away since it was exploding rocks and ash so my photos are a bit noisy. I had to laugh at all the folks trying to take photos with their cell phones. Good Morning Kathy,
I am doing fine...way too busy to enjoy my photography hobby. I finished my my Jefferson Memorial PP last night and I am putting a DVD in the mail to the couple tis morning...I got 102 keepers.
I am 1/3 done with the big Destin, FL Beach Wedding. I send my cousin about 50 photos a week. I plan to get 200 more done this week. She is loving the PP'ed photos.
I am leaving for Roanoke, VA in about an hour. I am taking the G10 to give it a test on the road...should get some spectatular fall leaf shots...the sunshine is super today.
I love your new avatur and the photos you posted with your daughter...well done :)
Have a super day...

Hi everyone...home and safe and sound...looking at my pics and YES I'll be putting some up james LOL
Had a great time, even our last day in NJ was kinda fun
Had a very strange thing happen on the train on Friday night...
we were stopped at our stop in long branch but no doors would be open, it was myself, my daughter a man and his son. My daughter and I were just having some fun and laughing and the man with the son did not find us funny LOL...
We were waiting to get out the doors. when an announcement comes..
It is against the law to press the buttons on the train panel. So we were laughing like ohhh someone is in trouble.
Then we realize a man (conductor) is starring down the man with his son and not saying a word just glaring at him, the man finally says, "you think i did it, You think I did"? pulls out his wallet with a badge. So then he starts to stare at us, and I felt as if I was in grade school doing something wrong...it really made me laugh and I said, we never moved, we did not touch anything, at this point two men move behind us and I think "Crap, we are in big trouble" I asked him did it come from here and he says yes, and I tell him it was us four and no one here pushed anything...
He starts to blame the two men behind us and one admits to it just to get the guy to stop doing all this stuff...I said NO, it was the four of us, and no one touched anything but it was only us four they came up later.
Now here's what ticked me off...the man with the badge just stood there, never uttered a word and I said to him, So you just stand there, show your badge and your immune, your not going to say anything about these two men because you KNOW it was just us too, but you just stand there and say nothing.
OOO he made me so mad, finally the doors open, and we all leave...
I hate pompous a$$e$ with badges as if that means he did not do it cuz he had a badge...Errrr just made me so mad....
Okay..you can now resume your normally scheduled chat LOL..
Maureen Souza
26th of October 2008 (Sun), 21:35
LOL, Lisa. Did you tell him off?
LeesaB
26th of October 2008 (Sun), 22:21
we walked behind him for a bit, and spoke how we felt. I just felt it was so wrong..
He cleared himself by a badge...what does that mean, really?
I really don't think any of us pushed anything, I'm not sure if it could be pin pointed to where we were standing, but if it was....I'll bet it was him. We really did not move to the sides where the panel was and neither did he and his son, so I have no clue what "really" happened and I'm very sure it's a serious offense, but...
It was unreal...and being from Ohio, I'll speak my mind!
He and the conductor even joked about "putting us in jail" and that is when I stopped laughing and said, I was seriously getting ticked off.
What a flippin coward with a badge, no (you know whats) to stand up for anyone but himself.
The conductor just starred at us, first the guy with the badge then us, he did not ask us, say a word till I spoke first....I should have taken his picture.
another picture regret!

Morning all! Sorry, I was away all weekend. Saturday I closed the studio and took the day off to hang out with my daughter. We did some Halloween stuff... got her costume, carved pumpkins, etc... and went to the movies.
Sunday I had 3... yes... THREE shoots... First a HS senior, then two engagements... I'm up to my neck in photos to process now... lol...
And Lisa, you should have asked him so see his badge and take his badge number, etc.... as a public servant, if you request to see it, he has to show it... Then I would have reported his a$$... not that it would have done anything... but I would have felt good about it... lol...

Hey James and Tom
just went through the pics from NY, going to blog about it pretty soon, but need to get out of this seat for bit LOL
NYC is an amazing place and I've decided I'm not a "things" shooter I love to shoot the people. From very unique to very uber normal!
The thing that amazes me are the night people, the homeless etc. I always wonder what it took for them to get "that" far. Did they just snap, abused, playing around and it just went to far. You know...sometimes if you play sick enough you become sick! Sometimes if you play a part long enough it becomes who you are.
I had to laugh, we were in Garretts popcorn and a homeless woman came in and asked for a sample, they gave it to her, she starts screaming "I can't get a taste from that" and they talk to her nice, explain it's a sample. they finally give her three samples and I laughed. She had better marketing technique then then did,,,she got what she wanted. LOL

ahh, some sad news
Looks like my mother is going to have to go to a nursing home. We can't get her to stop what she is doing. This is NOT going to be easy, I'll know more after Wed. My step father is making an appointment with her doctor. I'll have to babysit her then. I'll probably have to be the bad sheep, me and my daughter.
Even my uncle is saying it's time...ICK this just does not set right.

That's not good news, Lisa. Hopefully your family can find a kind, nurturing place for her that will actually be good for her. They do exist, but can be hard to find. You are in my thoughts!
sidx001

well....I know of two places, but that decision belongs to my Step Father and I told him, if he decides to do it, I'm behind him...and if her family decides to "help" just to get hands on her stuff I will step in and make sure he gets it all. He deserves it. Not them, not me!
Families are a trip at times like this.
It will be an ugly ugly day...besides my mom "acting" up. Having them around.
I guess we will see, it's not a decision he wants to make, but he really cannot handle her anymore when that happens, there are two choices.

Hi Adam,
First wedding huh? Nice shot, I've always liked the veil shot.
Want any criticism?
Just a heads up...I was looking for a Joe Buissink video for my daughgter and i did a google search and saw that someone on ebay was offering one, so, I went to save it to watch and it asked for my password and name, I thought for a moment, went to my bookmarked Ebay site and guess what, I am signed in, searched for the video..no where to be found.
How about that fake ebay site just wanted my password. Whew...close one!

It's how we all learn....:-)
Well, do you have a skin softening program? that would do a nice number on both of their complexions.
there is that fold next to her arm, you can clone that out of there.
Clone the top where those items are hanging down
and one nit picky thing I would do is remove the finger tip kinda sticking out from her dress.

ahh, some sad news
Looks like my mother is going to have to go to a nursing home. We can't get her to stop what she is doing. This is NOT going to be easy, I'll know more after Wed. My step father is making an appointment with her doctor. I'll have to babysit her then. I'll probably have to be the bad sheep, me and my daughter.
Even my uncle is saying it's time...ICK this just does not set right.
Lisa,
That is a tough decision to make. I had to do the same with my Dad a few years ago...just keep telling yourself that it is the right thing for your Mom...she will get the care she needs. I will keep you both in my thoughts.

ok .. here's a questions for the all ages ..
since most of you do do weddings .. i have a nice brain scratcher for ya
16-35mm or 17-40mm? hmm ... this may stir somethings up ..
here's why i ask this question .. lately i've been thinking of adding something wide to my gear set .. and i've been reading that the 17-40 is actually a better color producer than the 16-35 .. BUT, the 16-35 is actually a stop better than the 17-40 .. so as you can see, im torn between the 2 lens .. its either Better quality or better in low light .. hmmmm

LOL .. when i dove here in northeast, i actually had to wear a 7mm suit with a hood, man .. did i hate it .. i couldn't get use to it .. but i may have brave the cold water to see this

I guess just being the black sheep and the one who will actually have to "make" her go.
I'd love to get into the lengthy details, but I guess it's best just to let it all go...

Tom that is a wicked picture....wow, I saw a scary movie once about a guy who did that to women chained to the ocean floor. ewwww.
I like the 16-35, but, I may just get a prime for my next lens, after i get my assistant her 24-70

Tom,
I got the 17-40MM as the UWA for my 5D and I love it. The 5D performs well at high ISO so just crank it up when f/4 is not fast enough :)

colour makes no difference when shooting RAW.. how about a 11-16mm 2.8?
Adam, the light behind the couple is very distracting to me, the focus is on the ear? and its a little over exposed..
