I just processed a gallery of pictures from our pre Christmas family Christmas Party. I used a 1D Mark II and 550EX bounced off the ceiling. The Mark II was in Manual Mode, t=1/60, f/8, Cfn 14-1(averaging). The exposures were very consistent.

Great stuff. Christmas really is about kids, though, isn't it?

Thanks again!
Marie, I figured if the AI Servo of the 1D Mark II could track RC Planes, it could track a moving four year old!
Merry Christmas!

Fabulous photos, beautifully posed and perfectly exposed.
I am interested that you used bounce flash - hence the absence of shadows. It has been my impression that bounce flash can give rather flat photos - not here though: perhaps the answer is a powerful flash like your 550 EX. I had been considering the purchase of a s/h 380EX - I'll now reconsider that!

I think the look of bounce flash has alot to do not only with the height of the ceiling but also the angle of the flash head. I now try to adjust the angle depending on where I am in relation to the subject to get the look I want, just like moving my umbrella.
