Hiya Max, what have you been up too?
There were quite a few. I wished that I had felt better and had arrived earlier. I would have been like a kid in a candy store. I could have taken my time and got some nice details.
We are having a show at work sometime in August so I am sure I'll have the opportunity then. At least I hope I don't - I'd rather be slammed in my office selling cars, but I bet I'll get to do plenty of shooting.
Good then....looking forward to some classic car shots in August *notes in calendar*.
It's not that heavy. It's a Class 1 hitch for a Suzuki Sidekick.
Oh...must not be too heavy then. The one I had for my Jeep Liberty weighs about 10 to 12 lbs. Serious toe damage if dropped.

Just regular Mod stuff (move threads that don't belong etc), I really don't know a good way to explain. My areas of concentration are M'sports and Trans.

Thanks very much.
Not that I was pleased with. Like I said in the Trans post, I was under the weather and did not want to be there. I made myself get out of the house. I wanted to shoot the fireworks and I had to get there to find a decent park and spot. So I walked down Broad Street, which was extremely crowded and shot a few. I was so off on the other stuff. I could not get my DOF right for all the money in the bank. So we will just leave the rest on the XD.
I assume you are feeling better now?
It's not that heavy. It's a Class 1 hitch for a Suzuki Sidekick.
That's nice...
There's an antique gas and steam engine museum near hear that has a lot of old trucks. There's a hood ornament I have to shoot every time I go there...

Well, it all seems ok. Other than the new header, nothing seems different at all.
To get colour managment, you have to install an 'experimental' addon. I have on two computers and all has been fine.
Do a google search for firefox color (or colour) management and look for the mozilla addons site - I think it's about the second or third link. There's a page to test the managment at http://www.color.org/version4html.xalter

Hi there Mark.
no, you don't need a special addon to enable colour management.
Look here, it's just an advanced setting

Just an update dor those who were going to do the $2.99 photo cards offer from Artscow.com posted a few days ago. . . Code still working as of this morning. Use Paypal to check out. Most US Credit Cards restrict purchase to Hong Kong companies due to past fraud problems so they will likely decline the card.
I haven't gottne an order yet, but folks that I know who have were pleased with it all.

I checked the configuration for the colour management, and it shows that it is enabled. Maybe the add-on did this for me?
If the large photo at the top of the page looks ok to you (with no lurid green/red quarters), then you're set up fine. Looks like it from your description...
Thanks for picking up the slack when I just posted and ran, Pete.
Yes, the addon would have enabled it for you, Jim.
Did you notice the warning when you went in to set/check the parameter within Firefox rather than via the addon? Looks like Terri and her kind have been trapped in the machines

Thanks, Jim. Yes, his legs are doing fairly well since the Botox injections last month. He has a lot more flexibility in his heels etc - now it's a case of making sure that he exercises them - 14 miles should do that nicely. They do have checkpoints all along the route so if anyone can't manage it, they can be taken back to the campsite.

Sounds good. I did not know there was a V3.0 of Firefox out. I guess it is not an upgrade then, but a whole new version? If I were to load it would it use all my settings, bookmarks, add-ons, and the such?
Wow, Firefox V3.0 sure does seem a whole lot faster for me. :D

There aren't any good biking areas here, either. The speed limits on the roads around here run from 50 to 65mph, and I sure wouldn't feel safe with freeway speed traffic whipping by me as I pedal along on the side of the road.

I am so sorry. I had braces twice and it is no fun. Swish with some warm saltwater and take some Motrin. That should help a lot. Also make sure you stick to a soft food diet. Warm soups should feel good to your teeth. Avoid anything that requires chewing for a few more days. I hate to tell you that the worse is yet to come. Once the braces get on though the only pain you really have is maybe 24 hours after your monthly adjustment. May I ask you why you are getting braces? The second time I had mine it was a prep for surgery. My first ortho messed my bite up so much in order to fix it to stop the TMJ pain I had to have my jaw broken in 4 places and reset. Not fun but it was the best thing I have ever done!

That's what I'd like to get, but desk space may be an issue with that size of tablet. I'm thinking the 6x8 might fit my desk better, but I worry that it may not seem much bigger. The 4x5 has been great for what I do with it, but it would be nice to have the extra area (and the precision that goes with it)

I need braces because my teeth impact each other in the front. Instead of having an overbite they come down edge to edge. My main front biting teeth are chipped and messed up looking. I will look for a photo so you can see. lol So I need braces to correct the bite, then some cosmetic dentistry to make the appearance better. Should be good to go in about a year and a half. :) lol

The precision is the reason why I wanted to get a bigger tablet. The smaller ones wouldn't have worked at all, unfortunately.

Yeah, it looks gruesome, doesn't it? It actually wasn't the worst coaster there (Sheikra), oh and there = Busch Gardens. The worst one was Montu, with about 7 inversions. I came off with a headache from that one, from my head banging off the safety harness thing. As for the one pictured. I didn't get a "fast" shot of the coaster as you see people dangling down there. Basically, your feet are loose and hanging down, when you go up the beginning, it is such a tight climb, that you're thinking "oh f***, what have i got myself into". Then after that, you go around the top and it looks like it is about to drop....and it stops....so you're at the front, and you're dangling down for about 5-10 seconds, then it just drops....hahaha, great fun, and there is a 2nd smaller vertical drop. Still bloody good fun. I some good shots of it on my external drive at home, I'll put some more on here for you to throw up your dinner later on.

Actually I quite enjoy coasters. The worst I had been on was one called Mr Freeze at 6 flags in Arlington. It's one of the ones that had a linear motor at the beginning to catapult the ride into action. It goes straight up a tower at the end, and eventually returns backwards to the beginning. It was a short ride, but very fast and extremely high acceleration. I wasn't feeling to good before I got on it, so I might have enjoyed it more had a felt better.
I am half tempted (not in a S&M way mind you) to get my wisdom teeth removed...maybe a brace put on, but I doubt i need the latter. I just don't want all my teeth bunched up like a freak'o'nature...
I won't tell you about my wisdom teeth extraction, then ...
If I ever have to get dentures, I'd like to have Wolfman fangs. Geez, that would be great.
Yes! I'd get different sets with different attributes: vampire, yokel, regular, perfect. Great fun!

John you are killing me. Nice work.
Nice John
Thank you, thank you...
What a coincidence. I just got the couch bug. In about a year's time, I'll be doing some serious sitting with the occasional eating. If I practice enough, make certain sacrifices, maybe employ a trainer/coach, I'll try for the Winter Olympics in 2012. Maybe do the Couch Pentathalon
-sitting
-remote surfing
-scarfing microwaved foods
-snoring
-reduced metabolism relay
I've had that bug for about three years now. I think it's time I joined Terri for a while.
Is there a burger eating competition? I'll do that!!
Burgers and Beer Chugging are a part of the Couch Decathalon. That's just more of a serious training regimen that I want to take. Besides, if I start seriously training in Burgers and Beer, it might take the fun out of it. I'd hate to see that happen.
Is this a team sport? I'd like to join in...
It's a monster. The 9x12 Intuos 3... I'm pretty sure that's it. Very nice size, but it kills the space on your desk. It's very nice. Perfect for what I do with it.
That's what I'd like to get, but desk space may be an issue with that size of tablet. I'm thinking the 6x8 might fit my desk better, but I worry that it may not seem much bigger. The 4x5 has been great for what I do with it, but it would be nice to have the extra area (and the precision that goes with it)
I've used one of the original 4X5 Grafires for years. It has some issues and seems to be losing it's pressure sensitivity, but it's not abig deal. Ever since Lightroom came along, I've had less need for Photoshop and the tablet.
I was given an Intuos 9X12, one of the old serial connection ones. It needs a new cord and I could get it repaired for less than the cost of a new one but since I don't really need it I'm holding off. I'm going to see if the new version of Lightroom supports tablets, then I might get it fixed.

I just want to get all of my teeth yanked out and have a set of dentures made. Seems like it would be cheaper in the long run...
I found out the other day that my grandmother got dentures at age 37. She's in her mid 70's now and has had the SAME dentures the entire time. Talk about CHEAP!! $300 for the set and never looked back. lol

I've had that done. That was last year. At least with that pain meds helped and I was so out of it I just slept the whole time. This is just plain irritating!!

I'm working through the infrared shots from my trip right now, and I find it odd that in them, the blue channel always looks the best. But, it's infrared photography. Isn't it supposed to be all about the reds?Things react differently to different wavelengths (no surprise). But the "blue" pixels will get less non-IR since IR and blue wavelengths are furthest apart.
Why? I've always heard that, but I never understood why...It's called the "Wood Effect" - live, healthy chlorophyll is a very good IR reflector. Wood, BTW, was a person, it's not referring to tree trunks.
Same way night vision goggles work. They look for a heat source. IR photography captures the heat reflected back. Dead vegetation has no warmth. Live trees and grass do. That's why they come out snow white in an IR photo. Not exactly. Thermal IR's at a way different wavelength than what you're photographing. By the time you picked up the heat emitted by an object on photographic IR, it'd be about to burst into flames. Thermal IR is down in the 300-400K range, not the 2300-2600K of near IR. It's, as noted above, the Wood Effect, the way chlorophyll and healthy plant matter reflect incoming IR.

If you ever get the Intuos hooked up, you'll love it. Mine is an intuos, just a small one. The biggest issue I'm having is when I lift off the pad my hands get a bit shaky (Thank God I'm not a surgeon ...) which, if the tip still has a tiny bit of pressure can cause a selection to draw improperly, or move something that I didn't want moved. I often wind up resorting to the mouse when things require a steady release.
I might just spring for the monster and see if I can cram it on my desk. ;)

So I've been learning, and I'm now more confused than ever. When I first started experimenting with IR seven or eight years ago, I remember reading some web pages and forum posts (here and elsewhere). I vaguely remember the heat radiated IR being mentioned numerous times. The photos I got with my converted 10D last week don't always jive with what my memory is telling me I read back then...
I have more experimenting to do.

Yup it is...the 2nd link he has is interesting about changing the IR/UV filter. Not something I'd do for a long, long time!!
Oh and nice avatar. That is one damn good single-malt whisky....I am almost out of my Bowmore, I need to get another bottle of the good nectar....I'll try a different brand next time.

Try Mortlach Flora and Fauna 16yr... it's amazing. I got it at Royal Mile Whiskies. When you're in the UK you can get it via post for fairly cheap. It's a VERY good one.
I have been enjoying cragganmore lately. Very smooth, almost caramel flavor. I haven't read the tasting notes on it to know if that's in there but that's how it comes across to me. I had a special edition Laphroaig that I also got in Edinburgh last year. That was amazing. Bottle 290 of 291. ;)
