music gurus...I need some help.

I'm really enjoying Rodrigo y Gabriela's music at the moment...and I realize they are unique...but I like the style. Anyone else you could recommend to me that's similar (R&G don't have more than a handful of songs on itunes).? edit: No singing...just guitar.

I'm hopelessly behind... and I've not heard any of their ^^^ music, but Christopher Parkening is a guitarist... classical but I really like it.

Hello My name is Jennifer.... I used to hang out here.... back in round 10... here we are now 51 pages into the thread.... it's hopeless folks... I suppose I'll just have to start from here.... WAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

I figure by now ya'll have forgotten all about me! The last 3 days have been a whirlwind of paperwork, and stuff to get ready for Summer camp. Today was our first all staff gathering and we've got some awesome (and very good looking) group leaders! I'm really excited to get to know our new staff... sadly hoping I'm not too old to hang with them some... I'm too old... I just need to face it... Sigh

Ok so again My name is Jennifer... and after 3 attempts to type my name I spelled it correctly... SHEESH!

Well I still left my mark.

Yeah Service in here sucks tonight. Jeeeeeeeze. I'll have plenty of singles left for the pole dancing.

You need to stop. You are killing me.

Try to skim a few pages and run across this.... I've missed all the fun... and an opportunity to earn a couple extra bucks! ;)

Nice!! Love the hands one. All good

It's great, Pete. And, yeah, lots more liberty with the 1D bodies. I've noticed more latitude with the 40D over the 30D also, but that just might be experience, too.

Jenn: don't hang your head so much. I couldn't catch up either. Besides, it'll put strain on your back.

 Dan... Sitting in hard chairs for the last 3 days has put its own strain on my back!

G'MAE all thanks for the compliments, you all rock.

Jen what is the latest word on your back?

Well I finally got an appointment with the Neurologist of my choice today... the appointment is not until July 2nd!!!!! I picked up my medical records, and my MRI on CD.... My MRI report inidicated a disc extrusion... severe... and a synovial cyst... so I'm not sure surgery can be avoided.... Sigh...

I'm feeling pretty good the last couple of days though so for that I am grateful...

Thanks so much for asking...

I wished Alabama would do that. Nothing is more aggrevating than someone on their phone piddle assing down the drive holding up traffic.

You mean I can't text and Drive?!?!?! SHEESH! How in the world will I stay in touch with my friends?!?! heheheheheh j/k!

Dontcha just love it when you decide to take your camera with you to a business meeting because you know that the meeting is in a building very near to something you want to photograph, in my case the monument to the fire of London, and when you get there it looks like this

http://www.ambrosiabbs.com/gallery/photo/medium/City_of_London_June_08_IMG_0670.jpg

City of London rant on the way

Reminds me of my first trip to the City.... Ok I was 11... but still... I wanted to see Big Ben... it was covered in scaffolding.... We flew through NYC... wanted to see the Statue of Liberty... yep... you guessed it parts of her... covered in scaffolding.... Heck during college went to Washington DC for the first time... The Washington Monument... yep... again.... covered in scaffolding!

Wife and I were leaving the house at 330 to make a quick run to Home Depot. When I got onto the FM road, I saw UPS leaving the quarry down the road. I did a quick U turn and headed back home...he beat me there. Anyhow, by the time I got to the driveway, he was walking up the sidewalk with this little tiny box and I thought to myself, that can't be it...there is not BH tape. I asked the guy if there were any other packages for me and he said there should be since the screen of the doo dad he had said 1 more....then he said that the sorters have been putting boxes on the wrong truck lately.

It is one thing to not do something because you have no interest, or just simply choose not to.
It is quite another to allow a preconceived idea or society's idea of what is correct, to make the decision for you.

Don't get me started :-|

Hi all, doing a mediocre job of catching up, here. I've been in bed all day wishing I were dead. I've been popping vicoden like Dr House, just to bring the pain level down a bit. The infection has affected my inner ear so I easily get nauseated. It sucks. I called back the Dr. and now they're saying once the antibiotics are done to make an appointment with an ENT doc. I think I'll just visit the one that treated Christopher. Heh.

Saw some of those. What with Deb cornering the market with macro'd flahrs and Pete showing off with wildlife, Cat mastering portraiture and Becky doin' what Becky does best, I think I'll just stick with doodles.

Grrr.... your doodles make my doodles look like scribbling. Heh, seems the only thing I can do reliably is make snapshots :p

ok, now when you say f22, you have to remember you're talking to the biggest newbie here since man invented bread and had no idea on what to put in the first sandwich...by that I assume you're saying focus to infinity? or thereabouts...

f/22 is a very small aperture opening. What this means is nearly everything will be in focus, but will also lose some sharpness by diffraction (which becomes noticeable at about f/11-f/16 for pixel-peepers. A very large aperture e.g. f/2.8 will give you a narrow depth of field and blur the background, excellent for getting good subject separation.

Just realised I got post #666...I am dooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooomed

Zane, I asked how close I can get without getting in trouble..."Just don't touch" was the answer. So no, I didn't pet their nose.

You didn't get a shot of the person following the Clydesdales with the broom and shovel?

They are here for an Air Show this weekend. The Thunderbirds kept zooming around this evening too. Too low of ceiling for me to even attempt a shot of them. We're talking about going to the show on Sunday.

Ooh, ooh! Pitchurs please!

Great rants Dan.....but clue me in on what this is. I can't figure it out and I think I've gotten some OCD about it.

I know Zane answered this, but that corkscrew-looking thing is called a "worm." It's used to remove a projectile and charge from the muzzle-loading cannon if they decide not to fire it for some reason. There is a separate device called a "sponge" for wet swabbing the bore after a shot.

wow, I just read that both CA and WA have passed the hands free driving (goes into effect July 1 2008 so if Dan wants to talk on the phone in the car in those states, he'll HAVE to buy an earbud :lol::lol:

The law in California was enacted a year and half ago. It just didn't go into effect until July 1st of this year. The Navy and Marine Corps in San Diego have taken a proactive stance on cell phones in vehicles on their bases. The Marines require the use of a hands-free device and the Navy prohibits any talking on a cell phone in a vehicle while driving, even with a headset.

I will comment that Copperhill uses all sorts of scary complicated text to make it seem like a much bigger task than it is. They seem to do it to sell more products for lots of money. The product I got from them I was not thrilled with and from their advertising I expected it to be a bit more than it was. To top it off someone on here scratched their sensor using their product. They commented on it and mentioned Copperhill but only to say what they were using not to in anyway blame the company. The owner came on POTN and really sort of attacked the guy. He was rude, condescending, and not someone I would like to do business with. I swore I would never buy another Copperhill product again.

This is just the opposite of my experience with them. I made a comment on one of the numerous sensor cleaning threads about how I couldn't get the wet cleaning to not leave streaks on the sensor. I got an e-mail from someone at Copperhill offering me a free Sensorklear pen to try. I accepted the offer and when the pen arrived, there was also one of thier lighted magnifying lenses thrown in.

Blasting the inside of your camera with a Rocket Blower while the shutter is closed is very likely to permanently damage your shutter curtains, though. You don't want to do that. If you're going to try to blast the dust off the focus screen with a Rocket, at least put the camera into sensor cleaning mode so the shutter is open.

Um, that's not going to work... If you put the camera into sensor cleaning mode, the mirror flips up and covers the focusing screen.

Great rants Dan.....but clue me in on what this is. I can't figure it out and I think I've gotten some OCD about it.

It's one of the tools for a cannon/howitzer. Right after the cannon is fired, they put this "wormer" as it's called into the muzzle to make sure all the wadding is out and there are no residual embers.

you know he won't do it. He'll just not answer his phone in the car

Anytime they say below 30% chance of T-Storms it's pretty much hit and miss. Tomorrow they are say 70%, Saturday 30%, and Sunday 40-50%. So it could be more hit than miss. Course it is three days away so things could change. We'll see how it looks come Sunday.
