Well it's now been exactly one year today since i got my 300D.Yep-it arrived on christmas eve! How cool was that?!! :D:D
I've now taken just over 12500 pics (and surprisingly kept about 400 of them but that's another story;) )
I've had no real issues with hot pixels ,front or back focus or anything else
I've only partly cleaned the sensor three times-that's all it's needed in spite of changing lenses at dusty sporting events and having several hundred lens changes overall!
I bought at the right time for someone who hasn't much money -just as they released a new model (to minimise depreciation) but after a couple of months when it proved to be reliable and sorted
I'm stunned at how well it's all gone.I'll never be sorry i went digital at the time i did:)
Well done canon

Ron,
I'm also celebrating my first anniversary, though with the Canon A80. I'm eager to climb to the next level and consider the 300D to be the logical replacement for my beloved but slightly busted PowerShot.
I'm a little worried though, that a replacement model is due for release shortly - that will either make the 300D drop in price, or worse - obsolete.

Well I always tell people if you keep waiting for the next design to come out you will never buy anything because a new design will always be coming in the future. Prices continue to drop and waiting for the next release means sometimes waiting for support or the possibility of problems.
I have a 300D and if I could buy something now i would go at least for a 10D or stretch and get the 20D. Just my opinion. But if you aren't in a rush then I would wait a little longer to see if a 300D replacement comes. But don't have that be your only reason not to buy if you have other reasons to buy it now.

I got my dreb. 1 year ago too!... of course, during the past year, I've sold it and bought 2 new cameras, 4 lenses, a flash, 2 tripods, a laptop..... gosh, I guess Christmas lasted all year for me.... I better slow down this year a little! :)

Same anniversary for me ... except like dsze I have subsequently upgraded - in my case to the 20D. Nothing at all against the DRebel - I was extremely pleased with it (image quality-wise). I just found it to be a little limiting in action photography (my kid's soccer, baseball, football, etc.).
In a fortunate coincidence of timing, I came into a little expendible money just as the 20D was hitting the market. Expendible money is depleted. I think I'll be using the 20D for quite awhile ...

No one knows for sure when that will happen but it's safe to say that it will be in time for the major trade shows (PMA in march the most likely(?) or perhaps in time for christmas next year (i can't see them waiting that long)
The new 300D/rebel should be worth waiting for.
It will certainly have Digic II (less noise at higher Iso's) ETTL II flash ,faster turn on times and probably increased resolution the same as the 20D.
I didn't really think anybody would respond to this thread-thanks for the stories of equipment purchases!:p
I think i'll be sticking with the 300D for some time now i think. It does really well and i just don't need anything more (allthough i'll be getting at least one L zoom if i possibly can;) )
