Among literally of hundreds of web gallery apps EE was chosen as an example in "Host Your Own Photo Site" by Oliver Kaven. It's a very clearly written small walkthough of setting up EE's. Thank you, PC Magazine!!! :)

...we chose to take a close look at Exhibit Engine 1.5 RC4 ( http://photography-on-the.net/ee/beta ). Developed by Pekka Saarinen, Exhibit Engine (EE) is a full-featured Web photo-gallery application that focuses on maintaining thousands of photos for avid photographers.

EE allows for a lean and no-nonsense display of your photos. You can even filter the display of photos by category.

One mistake, though: EE is NOT open source.

Yeah, thanks Pekka, you've made a good piece of software. As I've installed it and shown it to my friends, more and more of them are thinking of changing from other gallery software. The "no-nonsense" comment explains my feelings exactly: EE does what I want and need, but it keeps things simple and clean and makes nice looking galleries.

Happy holidays!

Pekka,

Sorry for the Open Source error in the review. I wrote this article as part of a bunch of Linux based applications, most of which were Open Source based --hence the oversight.

We will correct this mistake on our site today.

Thanks for the great app and have a Happy New Year!

Best,

Oliver

Thanks Oliver, no problem. It must have been my fault: the EE site is unclear about 1.5 licencing (1.22 was freeware), I'll need to make much better EE download site soon, for the new release.

Happy New Year to you and PC Magazine!

Congratulations Pekka :)

EE is one of the best galleries. It does require a little more to setup but once that is done its great.
