I have Photoshop 7 on my computer....I have no idea how to use it. I have been having fun with DPP that came with the camera, but want to do more. I can't afford CS3, so here's the question. Is photoshop 7 a capable program (once I learn it)? Or do I need to save for CS3? Thanks in advance for the input.

Photoshop 7 is a fantastic program. It's missing a few recently-implemented functions, but nothing that you'll miss for a long time.

As long as you've got DPP to process your raw files, you're good to go.

PS7 is probably the fastest version there is .

The only real problem with PS 7 is that it is pretty much limited to 8 bit support, however that problem can be solved by doing as much as possible in DPP, which works in 12/14 bit depth, before going on to PS for things that don't need higher depth, like local enhancements, sharpening, cloning/healing, etc.

PS7 is probably the fastest version there is . I still use it along with shooting RAW. guess I'll start reading up on PS7.. Most of what we think is important is already in the "Sticky"s.

Have fun, & good luck!

Ever consider Lightroom? It's less than PS CSX and maintains all functionality for photo editing.
