I must live vicariously through all of you since all I got for Christmas was a lump of coal. Please tell me what you got and how fabulous it is and how happy you are! Help those of us who are less fortunate feel your joy!

This Christmas I got a $22,000 tax bill from the IRS, so it looks like no new L glass under my tree this year. :(

Sorry about the tax bill. I traded in my 10D for an MkII and a 24-70L and a few other goodies. Thanks to this site I managed a great deal.
Cheers to all

Well, Tammie, looking at your equipment list I can't say that I'm feeling very sorry for you ;) <---- note winking dude ... kidding, just kidding

So far, I've received a surprise (from the inlaws ... wife must've tipped them off) tripod mounting ring for my 70-200/4 lens.

Merry Christmas, TammieO :)

It's Christmas Eve, not Christmas.

And nobody's supposed to be getting anything for Kwanzaa or Hanukkah.

Well, I wasn't necessarily a good boy this year, but, dumb luck or not, it was a good business year. So, I decided to finally sell my entire Mamiya 7 outfit and go buy a digital setup. Did a lot of research over the last couple of weeks and finally ended up with:

Canon 1DsMkII
16-35/2.8L
24-70/2.8L
70-200/2.8L IS
180/3.5L Macro
1.4 Extender
580EX x2
Wireless Remote

Needless to say, I've been having a whole bunch of fun learning the package! Merry Christmas to all of you, and I look forward to participating on this fine forum in '05. :)

My santa was confused... he had a long list and couldn't figure out his priorities.

It included:
1) 50/1.4... until he tried a soviet prime
2) Tamron 28-75... but then the sigma 24-70 came out
3) 3021Pro legs... and he's still torn between a gitzo and bogen heads.
4) quantum vs 550/580 EX...

Paralysis of analysis :)

Santa brought me a Tamron 28-75 f2.8 and a 4x5 Graphics Tablet. I must have been a good boy throughout the year or maybe it was that little bribe back a couple months ago.

Well Santa brought me a redundancy notice, was kind enought to deliver it a week early. So currently under the tree is looking a bit sparse until the future gets worked out. Keeping fingers crossed and hoping that a few things work out well. If they do then we will be having a late xmas if not then its mad job searching in January.

Best wishes to everyone else

The wife says I must wait until tomorrow. She says I've already gotten to use the new tripod and strobe that were supposed to be for Christmas. Can't wait to open the dual layer DVD burner and firewire card reader though !!

Tammie, I just got done talking to my cousin Ralph in Chandler. Bet it's warmer there than the 15 degrees here :)

A CF case and a water bottle from the Lowepro Street and Field series.

Now I can put them on the front of my Rover AW pack and get new cards and a drink without having to take the pack off and fish around in the back. These small improvements make all the difference

Due to that fact, and the little boy still living inside this aging body - i realized that i had do something myself ;.)

So tomorrow the 1Ds2 arrives.....have the 1d2 now, but will have to sell that.

Boy, am I eager or what :-)

Merry Christmas to you all. See you much more in 2005

Please tell me what you got and how fabulous it is and how happy you are!

Well, it's Christmas morning and all I got was a puddle on the floor from the puppy, a wake up barking chorus by my other dogs (I've got 8 Labrador Retrievers) at 6:00 AM and as I sat down to have my toast and coffee one of the dogs grabbed the toast and ran off. It makes for a frustrating start to the day, but just the same it's a great day when these clowns can put a big smile on your face!

I'll be roaming through the online catalogs of B&H and Adorama a little this morning picking out my presents from Santa. My wife hates to buy me anything because she hasn't a clue what I need or like ... I much prefer getting what I want, rather than something I have to return. (same goes for her Christmas list)

I've got my mind set on a new tripod, 3 way pan head and accessories and probably a 1.4 extender and maybe a bunch of rolls of slide film (yeah, I know this is a digital world but slide film is fun!). Probably a few other things as well as I've got a good size wish list at both B&H and Adorama.

My wife is away taking care of her father who is in the hospital so I'll spend a little time cleaning up after these dogs, grab my camera bag and head out to be with my sons and other family this afternoon ... so far it's been a VERY peaceful Christmas morning!

Got all of the stuff in my signature a few weeks early. We travelled all over seeing our kids before Christmas, so I needed to be able to use the new gear. The Grandson went home yesterday and our youngest and his wife moved to Kodiak Alaska on Tuesday, so what I am getting for Christmas is a little peace and quiet.

Flyfisher, the gifts received by the rest of us pale in comparison to yours. No greater love can be shown than that of giving a vital organ. Take her anywhere she wants, now and forever. England, New Zealand and Australia are certainly good choices, but don't forget North America, either.

Went to New York last week, coming back on 22nd December. It's Xmas Day here in the UK and my wife has just told me that all the goodies I got from B&H last week are my Xmas and birthday pressies (28th January) - so not too bad considering I came away with a Canon 100 f2.8 Macro and hood, Angle Finder C, two E-1 handgrips and a portable DVD player (plus 8 DVD's from the Virgin MegaStore on Times Square). I love my wife!!!!!

Cheers,

as she thought that i needed something to keep me busy while I recooporate Obviously perfectly matched in all ways, apparently the odds on your partner being a suitable match are greater than winning the UK lottery (14 million to 1). Your wife obviously deserves all you can give her and then some. Best wishes.

And don't forget there is more to these Islands than England, there's Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Channel Isles and the Isle of Man.

Well I got a set of Extension tubes, digital B&W photography book, an IOU for a hand grip which is on back order and an IOU for a 17-40 L :Duntill I looked closer and saw that it is only for half, apparently I can have the other half for my birthday which is not till August:cry:.

Nearly forgot a goat and some chickens. Unwrapped Christmas gift sent to a family in Africa by Oxfam (a Uk charity).

You mean it's not raining? Get someone to squirt you with a hose!

Manfrotto 3444D and 486 ball head (local store had 25% off on everything in the store!)

All from me, to me, I admit. My wife used to have money; now she has horses, and says if she wants pictures she'll get a drug store disposable. But she came through with the Streets & Trips 2005/GPS pack and a Yankee Driver, both on the "must have" list.

First Post by the way - so hello to everyone on the forum.

Got myself a 20D on Boxing day.

Am waiting for a new credit card to come through, then I'm going to get a 70-200L IS 2.8 and the Tamron Tamron 28-75mm2.8 Di , and the 580EX.

My sister is going to New York for a weekends shopping at the end of Jan, so I've emailed her and asked to pop in to B&H and get me Lexar 2Gb CF card 80X and a new 511A battery.

The battery in the UK is £55 and is $50 in B&H. The 2Gb Card is £160 over here and $195 over there.
