I plan on buying the wife a G2 soon.
It seems like a good time because with the G3 coming out the prices are droppping
Any thoughts on "must have" accessories
Memeory
Lenses
Chargers etc.
Particular Brand experience would be great
Especially helpful would be "avoid this brand because its garbage" stories
I see a lot of "Kits" on different web sites.
Any thoughts.
Thank for any hints

I have searched the area and not found much information about flashes. I am interested in finding an after market flash to rival the 550EX. Does Vivitar, Sigma or another company have a flash this is compatible with the G2 but lesser expensive?

I was cautioned and I pass this along:
Be careful about aftermarket flashes. Canon stipulates in the manual and just about everywhere else that it can that the company only recommends Canon brand flashes for use on the hotshoe.
Now, I tend to tune-out this kind of stick-with-the-same-brand talk, except I've heard others reiterate the Canon warning -- perhaps this is only because aftermarket flashes may not be able to utilize the automatic support features Canon provides for its own flashes. ???
I went ahead and ordered a Canon 420EX, and would probably not try another aftermarket flash on my OWN camera. If I were you and wanted an aftermarket flash other than a Canon brand, I would go to a camera store and insist they test out any they wanted to sell me on one of THEIR own G2s...
That said, does anyone have definitive knowledge or first-hand experience with other flashes can be used safely with the G2?
