Thanks for the input. Honestly though, I do not feel auto X pictures should have panning blur to them. Auto x is really not about speed and much more about precision. Speeds rarely exceed what you might drive on the 2-lane back roads. Therefore, I personally do not think that it should be portrayed as a speed event. For instance, the car in this picture was probably only doing about 30 mph or less at that moment. I don't even know if panning at that speed would create blur. Maybe I will give a shot though and try the next time I am out there.

It's not always about portraying speed, but at least portraying a sense of motion. Yeah, it looks good and sharp, but it also looks like it's parked in a parking lot with a few cones set up around it. Either way, if it's what you like best, no one can fault an opinion. It's a decent shot regardless.

Shots with a fast shutter speed work if there is something more to the photo than a car taking a corner. If you get a car picking up a wheel, or bouncing over curbs freezing motion would work, but most of the time conveying motion is better.

I often have a hard time shooting autocross because it is so hard to convey motion in it while still showing what the sport is about.

I would consider framing it a bit wider next time. And if you don't want to slow the shutter speed for blur, you may want to look for an area of the course where a car's nose will dip under hard braking, or maybe lift an inside tire in a corner.

Just my two cents. Otherwise, I really like the car. And it looks like it's got a nice wax job on it!
