View Full Version : Why can't I take longer than a 20 second clip with my SD300?

Everytime I try to take a video clip in 640x480 mode at 30fps it stops at 20 seconds.
The manual says it should keep going until I reach full capacity of my memory card which in this case is a hi-speed 256mb
Any ideas?

Movies can be space hogs. How big is the size of the movie file? Perhaps you need a higher capacity memory card. The fact that it's a high-speed card probably isn't relevant to how big the movie file is. Just a thought.

Hi All-
I am having the same problem. I have a 256 memory card that is not high speed. I was figuring that was the problem. I have a SanDisk 1GB ULTRA on order and was hoping that would fix the problem.
If I drop the resolution to 320x240 I can film until my card fills up.
On the 640x480, it goes for about 15-20 seconds and stops. I confirmed that this file is well below 100mb.
Any help would be appreciated:)

Any help would be appreciated:)I talked with a represenative at Wolf camera at the mall today....we put in a 128mb hi speed card (forgot the brand) and the camera recorded just over a minute with no problems.
apparently the 256mb card i have is a cheap generic brand and thats what my problem is.
with a Sandisk Ultra you should be fine :)

Yeah, I'm confused. I have the SD200 and I can take as long a video with it at that resolution as I can fit on the card. Maybe try a bigger high speed card? Mine is a 512 San Disk Ultra II. How about at 15 fps?

Be sure to format the card to the camera.
