I can embed the pic and see it in the preview but as soon as I post, its gone.

What am I doing wrong?

copy the URL of your image. Hit the insert image button, paste the image URL in the dialog box and voilą.

Also read here. http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=290249

Thats not working for me though.
It should embed it in the message but for some reason its not.
Here is the link:
http://i.pbase.com/o4/44/667944/1/91846223.rQVfvqwC.theladybug4.jpg
you can copy the URL, paste it in an address bar and see the pic in a new window but not in the message.
What tag do I need to put on this URL so it will work? Its probably something simple that I'm just overlooking.

That's weird. The first time I saw this thread, I couldn't see the hotlinked shots.

Now I can....

If you are talking about the first posts I still can't see 'em. I changed the link for my post.

These URLs are temp URLs from pbase, not the actual URL. You need to get the URL in the form that Permagrin showed in her post above.

So will I need to manually rewrite the links URL? That doesn't make sense. If I copy the image location or view the image location I get this:
http://i.pbase.com/o4/44/667944/1/91846223.rQVfvqwC.theladybug4.jpg
thats not a temp URL, thats its home on pbase. (I think)
Even if it is a temp URL, Ive been embedding images like this on other forums I don't need to rewrite the URL.

Interesting. Although that is not where the image resides on YOUR site. For instance, my site is http://www.pbase.com/madawson . All my image URLs should start with this and then have the image following. So when I view this image:

http://www.pbase.com/madawson/image/91633953/large.jpg

the url is: http://www.pbase.com/madawson/image/91633953 . I have to add the size and a .jpg extension (/large.jpg or /original.jpg). So the full url is http://www.pbase.com/madawson/image/91633953/large.jpg

What is your URL to your Pbase site?

I guess I can do that way but it just seems like it making extra work. Instead of just copying and pasting the location in the message I need to copy part of my URL and then manually add the jpeg size or IMG code? I guess I'm just lazy!

Thanks everybody for your help.

Basically I view the image on my site in the desired size. I then copy the URL, click this icon http://photography-on-the.net/forum/images/editor/insertimage.gif, then paste the URL adding .jpg to the end. It doesn't take that long really.

I guess there Tarpin? These fish are from Culebra. We were eating at a restaurant on the waters edge, I think on a dock and these four foot long fish were swimming in the water so we threw french fries in and they came right up and ate them.
