you used the ol' point and shoot digital for x-mas pictures instead of the expensive DSLR. I did. I have a 10D but somehow the G2 seemed appropriate and much easier to use.

Nope. Had to justify getting the 20D this year some how. Got the 10D last year....

Nope the 10D worked for me. ;) Poor little G3 is getting pretty depressed. :( Even the girlfriends A70 gets more play time. :)

Well I used my "ol' point and shoot digital for x-mas pictures instead of the expensive DSLR"
But only because Canon won't send me a new 20D, something about "credit declined" or something, I have no idea what thier talking about.... :D

My 10D and the 1DmkII stayed in the camera bags at home today when we went to my sister's for Christmas dinner. I decided I wanted to be in the pictures instead of taking the pictures for a change so I let my wife bring her G3 and play photographer. :D

Nope, I've sold my G3 long ago and I'm using my 10D. DSLRs are far superior to compact digicams for photographing in low light without flash.

I had a G2 first, then 10 and 20D. Sold the G2 recently because it was too big to carry all the time, but not of the same calibre as the DSLR.
Solved my "tween" problem with an SD200 in a belt pouch. Always with me, discrete and not bad quality, especially in enviroments where the bigger camera equipment would be too high profile or a nuisance.
Had it with me all the time at Christmas, shots around the office, while visiting with my mother at the nursing home, at restaurant with friends and family.
I especially like the short movie clip capability. They have done that well in the SD series.
A poor to middling image is better than none.

I use my 1d mark II, The Fuji stayed in the bag. Shot over 300 pics in two days. The only problem no one will take your 1d a shoot a couple of pictures of you in the action, scared of the big boy.

My P&S been alsleep for a long, long time. I don't even know if the batts still work. I have a tough time with P&S indoors though and don't like the flash look so I use my 550EX bounce on the 10D.

The 20D was the one to use for the kids' Christmas programs, but when it came to Christmas morning, opening the presents, the wife's A80 was the best choice. It also became the camera of choice for the rest of the Christmas day pictures. If I didn't use that, the G3 would have been the one, but the DSLRs are a little too intrusive for those shots.
Have Fun,

10d in use all day. even gave it to my brother, mother and my nephewsto use. none of them had any problems with it. It even went out on the boat.
it is the only camera that I have got and if I didn't bring that along I wouldn't have got any shots.
and yes I am even in some of the shots :)

20D all day gave my 7 year old the point & shoot. But I did realize it's time to upgrade the camcorder, I'm still using the old RCA VHS-c & the battery is so old it wont keep a charge.

I happen to own 3 G2s. One as a carry camera for me. My wife has the family camera. My son also has a G2.
But for the family Christmas pics, I used a 1DMKII with a 580 firing at the ceiling (high den ceiling) and triggering a Speedo head which was aimed at the ceiling bathing the room in soft, even light. Worked really well for what I was wanting. I shot at 1/60th and F 2.8 and got the results I needed without stopping to think about it.
