need help using lassos tool

I was wondering if someone can tell me how to go about smoothing around the edge after using the lasso tool. I used the lasso to cut out a person in a picture and I'm having trouble getting the out line smooth. Can someone tell me how I do that?
I tried to feather but it still has a out line around it. I would appreciate any help thanks. :) I'm using photoshop cs ...
