this was mi first job on this type of photography, i have been on photography for like 8 years now, but i have never done this before, ...high ISO, low shutter speeds, wide open.. Lots of fun! i have lots of shots out of focus.. maybe next time i'll use manual focus instead. i learned a lot from very good people from this forum, so thanks a lot to every one of you who gave me advice and the ones who LEAVED THE EXIF INTACT! that really really hepled me a lot!

well this is what i've got edited so far! ill post more as soon as i got them edited

and as always C&C are more than welcome!

EXIF intact (as it allways shoud be)

cheers!!

8 works well. What I like to do is shoot in bursts of no more than three. It should give you enough "coverage" on a pose to help nail it. Single point also helps. Colours could have been boosted more.

Next time, I would go for ISO1600 @ 1.8 and shoot away. Shutter speed should jump up and stop everything keeping it nice and sharp.(lighting dependant).

thanks

Something along those lines yes. You might also want to think about a 85 1.8 which should give you that extra reach.

thanks! her name is Almendra, she is one of the lead singers in a band called La Base.

hmm. 85 1.8.... sound tempting, but i just bought the 50mm 1.8, that was all i could afford for now.

The out of focus problems probably stem from the slow focusing, non usm 50mm f1.8... consider the faster lenses... the 50mm f1.4 USM is great from near the front.

Otherwise these shots look pretty good... Consider more "slightly to the side" photos of the singer behind the mike... Straight on mike shots rarely yield good results... and if you're stuck standing in front of the mike, it's best to wait till the performer steps aside.

I think shooting lots of captures will yield some good ones... I'd use up all the memory cards in your possession and sort the pics out later at home... using the computer monitor to sort out the soft and poorly focused shots...

Lastly, post only your best shots... you'll be known for them... Less is more, in this case... Even one poorly focused image brings down the entire set...
good luck.

imo some of these shots are quite a bit under exposed, Need the skin to be light unless you're going for a deliberate effect by choice. Atm some of your people are underexposed not by choice. Need to bring them up and out a bit and potentially play with the colours.

I find lightroom to be pretty good for processing gig photos as you can quickly isolate and manipulate certain colour tones with it and the curves on it work pretty well too. It's faster than photoshop most of the time.

As for the 85 1.8, great lens, but if you're shooting professionally you should be up front. And up front 85 mm is going to be too much, I don't even use my 50mm that close. 17-55 2.8 IS USM is nice for close up or the 24 - 70 on FF.
