Examples? You might try asking your subjects to look away from the camera, rather than at you directly. Other than that, about the only answer is to get the flash way off the camera, which isn't a terribly good option on the A60.

It's a very common problem with snapshots. Use software to get rid of red eye. Carefully paint a dark brown or black dot over the red in the pupils.

Several software programs can be used to get rid of the red eye effect. My favorite -- which is easy to use and does a great job -- is JASC/Corel Paint Shop Pro (now in version 9). To save money, try to buy an older version -- such as 7 or 8 on eBay. PSP is an excellent lower cost alternative ($120 vs. $600) to Adobe Photoshop for image manipulation.
To reduce red eye -- try to have the subject look away from the flash, use an on camera red-eye reduction mode if available, or have the room lights brighter. As noted earlier, an off-camera flash is best. I have a Canon S400 which also gives redeye -- even with the red-eye reduction mode.
Good luck!
