Good evening All. A quick question. When considering additions to my lens collections, I've found it helpful to go through the threads here where members post images with the lens in question, and also post crops. So, I'm getting in the habit of posting images with crops from the lenses I have, to assist others.

What is the "accepted" procedure here for crops...crop first, then sharpen, or sharpen the whole image, then crop and post the crop? Or, for crops do you just do straight crop from unprocessed original image?

I'm not interested in trying to make my crops look better than other's, just want to "play fair", so to speak, in posting crops.

I *think* for the archive threads it was mentioned that 100% crops were best without sharpening to show the "out of camera" quality.

even then, there's the in camera settings. I default all mine (20D) to 0 on everything. Some prefer it to be +1 on the sharpness out of the camera. Or, depending on what raw processor we use, it may be a hair different still.

I'd say if you put full disclaimer on what you do, you should be ok. But yes, I agree with having it unprocessed as possible for 100% crops.
