I have a canon D30 and a few lenses however one of them, the 28/80 3.5/5.6 usm 3 won't go any wider than 5.6 whatever zoom setting it is at, i cannot get 3.5 etc. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong? My 50mm 1.8 works fine and my 80/200 thanks :)

Try cleaning the contact points on the lens with a pencil eraser and then a small amount of isopropl alcohol. If that doesn't work then I'd say that your lens is toast. The drawback with any of the inexpensive kit lenses is that they usually are not worth repairing once they are out of warranty. Even Canon and Nikon just replace these lenses when they fail during the warranty period.
Good Luck!
