You know how a crowd attracks people, lol. That one was pushed to the top of the stack I'm sure everyone saw it. I think it has allot to do with timing. I usually can't read every post so having a good subject line is key. Try using "girl", "sex", "Nude" and I'm sure you'll get allot of hits.

IMHO, the reason her thread took off was because of the irony noted by many members: She had bought the ultimate DSLR body in the world, and two really ho-hum lenses. Nothing more. There are lots of women who participate in this forum, and hopefully they're just treated as equals. Not better....not worse.

While I didn't participate in that thread, I'm not surprised many did. I will say, though, that I didn't particularly buy her story. Just didn't ring true that someone would spend eight large, very large on a body and not know what lens to buy. I don't mean to be calling her a liar, but maybe that's what I'm doing. Maybe, just maybe it wasn't even a she.

OK, I'm curious. How do you determine what the thread ranking is? I looked everywhere but couldn't find that info. :confused:

On the main page for Canon EOS digital cameras at the bottom of the page it says "Display Options" use the pull down menus to pick your filter method. Then click get threads. Then count.......my page displays 30 posts per page. The New Girl thread is at the top of the 2nd page......and climbing.

You may be happy to hear that I have rectified the lens situation...

God, did I get raked through the coals on that one. But, liking a certain amount of pain in my daily life, and humbly taking advice, I bought some new glass and sent the other back.

The part about bugs and flowers was because I want to play around with macro. I haven't really taken the time to do this as I'm a Mom and work another full-time job.

I bought the Canon 100mm 2.8 macro lens, and a couple of great books. Now I'm going to buy the MT-24EX flash set up, and maybe the 580EX flash as well.

I'm a little tired of this thing about whether or not I'm really a girl! Though, being mysterious has a certain humor to it too! :rolleyes:

I wasn't giggling or batting my eyelashes or that sort of thing. I expected to be treated as a professional and get some good advice. Instead, I got a lot of criticism mixed in with the good advice! I am very glad that I asked though, and I was really surprised at the response to my introduction. I don't even go look at it anymore.
