Just playing around with my new portrait lens...f/1.4 50 mm...C&C please. Anything I can do to spruce this up? Tried to crop, but I'm not feeling it...

ISO 200, 1/4000, f/2.5

I think the second shot with the tighter crop is certainly much better than the first. The colors and the exposure look pretty good too. The only thing I think that keeps this from being a really great shot...and I do realize that this was probably beyond your control but, the duck in the foreground facing the right side of the image is really looking away from the camera. I think if you had of been positioned just a little more to the right and you could have gotten both ducks to pay attention to you, this would have been a really great shot. Again though, I know ducks aren't always the most cooperative models when it comes to photography (LOL!).

Just my $.02 worth,
Jim

Thanks Jim...That would have been better to get them both to look. Honestly, I was a little scared to be that close...These ducks are mean!

Second one is much better.

By the way, nice timing.

I like the 2nd one better, but maybe crop that little bit off the top? Also the pose that the ducks struck doesnt really do anything for me.. I cant focus on a single subject, and they somewhat merge. But yea ducks are uncooperative(although they seem pretty people friendly in my city :) ) so.. what can you do eh.
