Does anyone have this lens? I have a few questions:

- I have a Elan 7, will this lens work on it and then later when I upgrade to digital work on the Canon digital systems?

- Any sample photos?

Thanks!

Ah...a good start-that is the model that is generally praised :)

(the model below it -the non APO- has a patchy reputation)

It should work fine on all current film and digital bodies and should still work until canon make dramatic changes to their camera software (but who knows if/when that will be?)

Here is a comparison with the common canon 75-300 lens

The natural competitor of that sigma lens is the very good canon 100-300/4.5-4.6 USM.I've never seen a direct comparison between them but owners of both report they are very close in sharpness
Here is a comparison i did with the canon 75-300 and 100-300

I'm guessing they are about the same in sharpness and contrast, etc

The sigma has a good macro ability (48x72mm) and the wider 70mm may be usefull but possible future compatability problems?

The canon has very fast focus (with full time manual overide) is well built but costs at least $50 more
