Thanks! This couple was really awesome, and the wedding as a whole was spectacular, despite the insane heat & humidity. I had an absolute blast!

You lighting (especially indoors) is SUPERB! Looks like you had a bit of daylight to work with. You must have been able to balance any flash with the ambient daylight from the windows? Execellent work.

Thanks John. It was indeed brighter than average. Ambient closer to the windows was in the neighborhood of f/2.8, 1/125th, ISO1600. It was a relatively small room as well, so the light from both sides hit the middle decently enough that flash was more fill than anything. Stronger fill than you'd use outdoors, but it wasn't primary light as you'd usually use at the average indoor reception. I also decided not to expose for the outdoors but rather let the windows blow out for the most part to provide nice backlighting.

These pictures where obviously taken by a professional (I am referring to you). That is the highest complement I can give.
What makes photos even better is more time with the couple (yeah right), fantastic locations (yeah right), trained models for husband and wife (yeah right).

I must agree - your lighting is great! You've got a great set of images here and I am sure the B&G will be thrilled!!!

BAHAHAHA thanks PC. I appreciate that compliment very much. :) I did have a lot of time with them though as they so considerately scheduled all of the "formals" (I use that term very loosely) to happen before the ceremony...we had oodles of time but we still worked quickly to get a variety of shots and the couple was absolutely awesome.
This was pretty much a dream wedding for a photographer. :D
Thanks Sharon. :)

This is beautiful work. It all looks very natural, like everyone was working well with you. Great job!
My fav -- #5. I love the way the light picks up the veil without blowing him out.

Thanks Matt. Anyone who says having a great couple to work with doesn't matter is lying. :D

you dude. i like the clean natural look to these photos. When I saw them I was like, "i'll bet most of these are 10D photos". I miss my 10D for it's beautiful colours.
You did a great job!

Hah Lloyd I used the 10D/70-200IS more than usual but everything indoors was 1D II. Only 5 in this thread (not counting the gallery link) were with the 10D. I agree though that the colors from it are nice. I was telling the same thing to the B&G after dropping it to the ground to fetch the 1D II because it was slowing me down. They asked why I still have it since it's so old & slow (my words) and I said it's slow but the files are beautiful.
And thanks. :)

I like #3 a lot. Probably my fav out of the bunch. Not sure what the point is in #2 (Veil shot? Is this something people request?). In #6 their feet are cut off, otherwise a good shot. I really like #8 although I don't think I would have shot (purposely) that close with a 45mm lens (makes her nose look bigger than it probably really is).
All that being said hope my photos are this good from my next wedding! Thanks for sharing!

Veil shots are a matter of taste really. Some people like 'em and some people don't. Even if the bride doesn't request it I shoot what I see. Never know...she might love that one. 45mm was a lack of options. I'm a short mofo at 5'1. She was about 5'3 or so. The concrete pad I stood on gave me about 6 inches at most. I had to stay close otherwise I wouldn't have been above her at all. Backing up would have been a matter of gaining a foot or 2, but not back and enough to use anything longer. I did pull her nose down some in Photoshop for that very reason but probably could have gone further. 45mm is close to "normal" and not really "wide" though so it's not too bad, IMHO.

Earlier today, I was talking to a coworker who was going through their wedding shots. They were very unhappy with the results, but said "That's about as good as you could hope for."
I opened this thread and showed them your work, C.
I thought they were going to cry.

Why? Because they saw it could have been worse? Tears of joy perhaps? :p
j/k. I appreciate that a lot. Tell them thanks. :)
