I have a brand new D60 & my Epson 740 is clearly
inadequate.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a $200 - 400 printer to use with the D60 for a wide variety
of different photographs - wildlife, portraits, sports,
etc.

I want to be able to print 8 x 10. Anyone use one of
the Epson borderless? How about HP's.

Thanks.

Matthew

If you're interested in another Epson go to Epson's site and click on their clearance center link and you,ll find 9 diffefent models that are refurbished from $59.00 to $399.00. I bought a 1280 there for $399.00 and it looks like a new one, and it has a new warranty.

I found my Canon S9000 on ebay for $360. I prefer it to the Epson 900/980's I was using before. Mostly I prefer the increased speed when printing 8X10 portraits. 1.5 min vs 10+ min on the Epson. I sell everything that comes off these printers, so I'm at the mercy of the printer speed when it comes to projects.

I sell all of my stuff as well. I am a sports editor and do all my sports photography and writing. On the side I have a busniess which I sell landscape photos and take senior and family portraits. I will never use any thing other than an Olympus P-400. The images are a beautiful gloss, the printer is fast and the photos are mine. No one at a photo lab can screw them up and ruin the color. Despite having to order eveything (dye sub stuff is hard to find and expensive) it is well worth it.

I have been using a Canon S900. Fantastic match to the D60 and very fast. The only thing I miss is being able to print larger than 81/2 X 11. S9000 would take care of that for about $100 more than the S900.

I use a HP1215 and I must say the results are exceptional. I cannot imagine that any other printer could be better (although I have no experience of any others). I am satisfied with the results yielded and I will probably invest in a HP printer next time.

From everything I have read, either the Canon S9000 or the Epson 12870/80/90 would make the most sense in your price range. A question for those selling the output of your printers: what do you tell your customers about print longevity?

Have any of you explored the use of continuous ink systems that allows one to purchase ink in bulk? This applies to Epson only, I think. The Canon ink cartridge is not chipped so it is easily refillable from a bulk ink supply.

Cheers, Jim

Howdy all

New to this base Looks great..

I have D60 Upgraded from d30 Great move for me

as far as printers go

I have Canon 9000 at home and is great for larger prints thinktank system is good also

I also have Olympus 400 Dye Sub printer for highest quality shots (Per PG costs are a bit higher but the quality is very consistant)

the 9000 or it's baby brother the 900 are both great printers you can pick up the 900 for about 349.00 new in Canada. Very good buy...

I just recieved my Canon S9000. I like it, very nice and fast. but I have noticed an interesting occurance. When printing on plain or high-res paper I get banding, when printing on photo paper (matte or glossy) I don't get the banding. other then the thickness of the paper, I can think of no reason why this would occur. Has anybody else noticed this and is there someway I can prevent the banding on plain paper (which I use for proofs as it is cheaper).

Thanks,
