Complete novice here, but I do have some interest. Will be a grandfather in a few months, and need a new camera. 3.2, 4.0, or 5.1 mp? Would like to be able to print high quality 8X10's. Is it really worth the extra 50 bucks for the 4.0mp? Or should I go another 50 and get the 5.1?

from the a75 manual resolution 2048*1536 which gives u 3.2 mill pixels i suppose u can print up to 210*297 mm or a4 size or letter size 216*279 mm . i've just got the a75 and would probably have bought the a95 if i had the extra $100 at the time

If money isnt an issue, then I'd go with the A95, but if you dont really want to shell it out, then I'd go with the A80, instead of the A85 or A75. Neither of the latter have a flip-out screen, which I find extremely useful. The A85 is a 4MP, and the A75 is a 3MP. On the other hand, the A80 is a 4 MP with a flip-out screen.

Perfect :)

For the price ranges we are talking about, I would go for the A95. It has a swivel LCD and excellent battery life (consistently gets good test results with 1600 nimh)There are certainly some real bargains to be had on the previous models though.
