Hi

Have purched an eye correction lens to help me with seeing through the viewer of my Canon EOS 500.
Using the presciption for my glasses I have bought the same diopter as prescribed, sadly it only blurs the view-finder vision. Have tried with and without my glasses with little or no difference.

Could someone please advise what I am doing wrong or what I need to improve the picture I get through the viewfinder.

Many thx for reading this

Most SLR viewfinders are set up to be at an apparent distance of 1 meter. So you'd need to add +1 diopter to your regular prescription, or, if you're a bi/trifocal wearer, use the close-up value. If you're in doubt, get your opthalmologist to look at the camera and write the specific prescription you'd need for it. Even an optician should be able to take the necessary readings to tell what the camera's viewfinder is set to (and meaning no slight to opticians; they're the optical equivalent of pharmacists vs. opthalmologists/optometrists who are doctors).
