More prop plane practice from Saturday's local airshow, before the monsoon started. Not your usual warbirds selection but veterans nonetheless. C & C always welcome and appreciated, thanks for looking!

Nice prop blur. Sometimes cruddy weather helps! ;)

Thank you for the kind comments everyone! The cruddy weather helped for the props, but it was so dark by the time the jets did their thing, I had to use ISO 800 or 1000 with the 100-400L wide open to even get close to the shutter speed I wanted. Needless to say the jet shots all pretty much didn't work, fairly sharp but too noisy to work with as they still were underexposed, such as these...

too noisy to work with as they still were underexposed, The trick is to bump the ISO even higher to get a good exposure. Gavin shoots everything at high ISO & provides fun captions as well. The first & many other images are at ISO Speed Ratings = 1600!

Those are amazing, I'd have never thought high ISO could look that good! I'm definitely going to experiment with higher ISO shooting now. Our next chance to shoot aircraft will be EAA in a month or two, hopefully we get better skies for nicer, more interesting shots. But if the weather doesn't cooperate, I won't be afraid to bump the ISO up. Thanks!

Nice stuff. Vlado really needs to get Moonbeam back. If there was such a thing as an ugly Mustang, John Anderson's would qualify. I have pics of the same plane from the Heritage Flight at the Janesville show.

Moonbeam is back in the air. Now all of us in the midwest can look forward to a pretty Mustang in the Heritage Flights.:)

Thanks! It sure does need a paint job or something, but like you said, no such thing as an ugly Mustang!

That's for sure, paint job or not, classic lines!

Thanks! Sorry you missed the show, but if it makes you feel better, it wasn't at it's best this year. I think the threatening weather kept some of the acts away. They squeezed in Saturday's show, but there was a ton of lightning during the heritage flight, then the monsoon started. Sunday was a total washout, no show at all. Still looking forward to next year though, if you go and see a guy with a 100-400L on a 40D, say hi:D
