Hey,
I purchased a Canon Powershot S5 IS from OfficeMax today since they had a $299 deal. I went ahead and purchased a 2-year warranty on top of Canon's 1-year warranty for $49.
Do you guys buy warranties for your camera?
Are there aftermarket warranties that offer similar coverage for longer than 2 years?
Thanks!

I never, ever take them.
You have just spend an extra 17% premium to cover this camera for 3 years rather than 1, but the odds of it breaking in this time are far, far lower than the odds that you will wish to up-grade the camera in that time.
To me, those odds aren't worth it - but like all insurance policies, peace of mind is sometimes worth it. If your policy also covers accidental damage and theft, then I think it is worth it - but if it doesn't, I'd suggest seeing if you can cancel the policy.

Think of it this way, they don't offer extended warranties to save you money, they offer them to make themselves money.
I never have and never will buy an extended warranty.

I always buy a Mack warranty. To me it is just a little peace of mind. Like insurance you buy it hoping that you never use it. And the price here is about 5% of the cost of the camera.
