If you do a Google search using parameters like "basic digital photography"; "photographic exposure" and other pertinent points you will come up with hits for such sites as these:
Ultimate Exposure Computer:

Natural Looking Flash Photography
http://planetneil.com/tangents/flash-photography-techniques/
and many many more...
However if you want a paper based book, The Digital Photography Book, by Scott Kelby is very good and not very expensive:

Anything written by Scott Kelby. He is the head of NAPP (Nat. Association of Photoshop Professionals). He is straight forward and to the point. All his books are VERY GOOD.

looks good.Thanks. after searching the internet for a descent book, the results was overwhelming and just like everything else, there are good, informative ones out there along with the not so hot ones.I got a couple picked out and well go from there.

Digital Photography by Eismann, Grey and Duggan is good. Covers photographing and processing.

Understanding Exposure by Brian Peterson.
The best one I've seen to bring it all together
Then "The Moment It Clicks" by Joe McNally is a pretty cool perspective from a very successful photographer about how he sees the world
Enjoy!

I have compiled a list of books that have helped me move forward with photography.
Find it at my website (http://www.larios.gr), by clicking at the links section, here (http://www.larios.gr/links.html)... :D (also leads you to amazon.com)

When I had my Sony H5 (very similar to a S5 IS) I found the AAK white paper on the net. I really learned alot from it and it's free!
