Hello all
I wanted to propose a challange for you and perhaps some help for me.
I am working on a set of files, and this particular one in question has harsh light and very green shine in the water.
What im having trouble with is getting a tone in the greens that is still warm, but at the same time is getting rid of the harsh lighting.
I have linked to the RAW file and embedded an ACDSee convertions of the untouched RAW file.
Im very interessted in seeing what you can make of this.
Notes: Dont bother with the rest of the edit, stuff like the shine on their faces, sharpness and so on.
I have done my own editing of the file, but im reluctant to show that quite yet, as it might through you off the track that im hoping you can show me.
And please, this is the important part, please tell me how you accomplished your result.
I hope youŽll have fun with it, and in advance...thank you very much.

This is the link for the RAW file...newest raw converter is required.

Here is my quick edit. I messed a lot with the HSL sliders in ACR.

Jason I think your edit looks quite good but a hair on the green side. But it really pops a lot more.

Here's my attempt. Looking back I think my edit lacks a bit of "pop" to the colors.
Reset white balance
Highlight recovery
Adjusted Contrast
Adjusted Exposure
Add Fill Light
Adjusted Yellow Saturation
Adjusted Green Saturation
Adjusted Aqua Saturation
Adjusted Orange Saturation
Adjusted Red Saturation
Increase Clarity
Increased Vibrance
Increased Saturation
Tweeked contrast, fill light, exposure and clarity a bit more
Hope this helps

Yeah, now that I look at it, it seems a little green. :)

I think it's more lighting than color...getting the eye to focus on the couple. Here's a quick edit just to demonstrate. White is a bit off though.

Here's what I did ...
I also cropped it a little bit after pasting the steps ...

Here's my attempt...I opened the pic in CS3, cut the couple to a duplicate layer, then changed the color levels, and saturation levels, merged the two layers back together and changed the light levels. <shrugs> what do you think? I'm not sure!

<sigh> You can see what the colors used to look like in between their two heads! LOL! sigh.

Here's mine:

It would need a bit more careful work in Vertus, but otherwise I think it's workable.
Here's what I did:
1) opened original raw file in Vertus Fluid Mask
2) Masked out the lake portion
3) transferred to CS3
4) opened original file
5) change the color temperature until the lake was something pleasing
6) dropped the Vertus mask on the image
7) blended a bit with the eraser where I was sloppy in Vertus
8) saved to a new file
I did not mess with the image of the b&g, bridge or trees at all, so they are as presented in the raw file. I just changed the lake portion.

I went for a little more "Late Afternoon/Early Evening" look (little more of a golden look). Had to take out the person in the background also, :D.

I mainly reduced saturation and then warmed using PS 5.5.

I didn't even see the person in the background. You have a better eye than I do. I need to improve on how I look at things. It might be a gift and I might just be out of luck.

It would be nice to see what your own final edit looks like. Any chance?
