Looking to upgrade my 19 inch flat screen for a 22-24 inch model. Looking for some opinons and recomendations. Also what programs do you use to calibrate the monitor? Thanks!

I've read not-so-good things about 22inch monitors. It's said that they're all TN panels, which aren't very good for photo editing. I'm not 100% sure if this is true. But generally, people like to go for 24" monitors.
Do a search for recent threads on this topic. Many people recommend Dell, Samsung, NEC.
Also what programs do you use to calibrate the monitor? Thanks!
It's not wise to use software to calibrate your monitor. It's best to invest in a monitor calibration device - eg Spyder or Xrite.

Recommend you stay away from 22" monitors and just bite the bullet for a 24". You will like the 1920 x 1200 native resolution. I have had great luck at NewEgg in the past... you can read reviews of the product that you are interested in from people who have actually purchased/used what you are looking for. Prices are usually great too.

Some time this summer I hope to replace my second monitor (20" 4:3 display ratio) with a second 245T. They are rock solid, fast and bright with fantastic color.

Oh, and ditto to Damo77's advice on getting a Spyder (what I have/have used).
