I want to plug a 550EX speedlight directly into the wall rather than a battery. I don't need portability and a Quantum Turbo is also too much money. I can't seem to find anything directly from Canon. Does anybody know of a solution to this problem? Thanks,
Paul

The 550EX port is for high voltage DC current supplied by a battery like the ones from Quantum. I'm not aware of any off the shelf electrical adapters.

I think it would have to be a battery solution. I much prefer this to the Quantum http://www.digitalcamerabattery.com/index.php You can power battery and camera from one hip-mounted unit or attach them to the flash stands and re-charge after a session.

I run my 550 guns from the mains using the Bantum battery insert these are then plugged into one of the small transformers you can buy, set to 9v, I have been using like this for a couple of years now without any problems. If the guns are fired full wack recycle time is not very quick but I mainly run with 4 guns so this is not a problem.

Hope this helps. Andy

ps. I run 2 guns per transformer
