My sister and her boyfriend recently got engaged, and know that I'm getting started with wedding, and other photography. They weren't sure about doing an E-Session officially (with a professional wedding package), and didn't know if they would be comfortable. When I heard they were heading to the waterfront, I asked if I could come along and take some pictures.

I didn't really PP the first shot, the second is quite obviously processed pretty heavily, and the last is straight from the camera, so you can see their faces!

I obviously have many other shots, with basic processing and PP work. I feel I got a pretty good number of keepers. I am trying to get C&C on these 2 specifically.

Should there be a tighter crop?? Any other ideas??

Not sure if I didn't kill the picture with the PP. I wanted to get a solid silhouette

A quick shot before we left, so that it wasn't just the backs of their heads! Didn't bother to get rid of the shiny-ness, or anything else.

Try shooting at a time with nice natural light. The direct flash of the third picture is not too pleasing. You may want to try to get them to interact, rather than just sitting around.

Thanks, I appreciate your response. I didn't want to "lead" them too much, just kinda let them do what they wanted, and be in the background. I didn't want them to feel like it was a big photo shoot. But I think you're right, these are pretty boring. The last one I didn't bother with the lighting, just wanted to get a few of their faces!

#1 is okay, not too interesting but I like her smile. Your conversion is dark and flat though. I would use some curves layers to brighten it up and add some contrast.

#2 looks pretty cool.

I can't see #3...
