They announced the new iPhone. It's gonna cost half as much, run on 3G (where available) and it's going to be on numerous carriers. Most of which are foreign, but they did list T-mobile as one of the new ones. Comes out July 11th

I have T-mobile... yea!!!! :D

I'm with vodafone (one of the O/S carriers). I'm switching to an iPhone as soon as practical - I played with one last weekend and I'm in love.

I'm not usually an early adopter, but in this case I'll make an exception!

they have GPS on the new ones. What i'm really interested in is now I can go out and do location scouting and have an image of a local in correlation with a map. All in my pocket when I'm out and need something on the move.

are you sure ? .. cuz the iPhone is still with AT&T here in the states ... and it has to be activated at the time of purchase ..

Yeah, it looks like the T-mobile launch is only for countries outside the US. Sorry!

i think it only supports GPS but doesn't have a receiver in the phone.

im getting one as soon as its out (11th July). In Aust. you can get it on a plan with optus or vodafone, or prepaid with vodafone. I'm already prepaid with vodafone, so HELL YEAH!

Here's a link to the Vodafone pre-registration page, if you're interested.

Vodafone iPhone registration of interest. (https://surveys.vodafone.com/ultimatesurvey/Surveys/TakeSurvey.aspx?surveyid=5378&responseGuid=9fe19abb-5105-4dbf-a0fa-f982978ef15b)

I'm prepaid with Vodafone too. I think it's cool that they're letting us little people have a crack at this too!

Any particular reason, Andrew?

It will most likely use A-GPS, which uses trigonometry to calculate the whereabouts based on where you are, from cell tower reception levels.

So does it have route planning and maps? A GPS on its own is pretty useless for most people IMO.

I'm not sure, I didn't read too much into it.

Google Maps is pretty cool though. Saves you from carrying a street directory in your car :D
