I've been looking at this lens for it's versatility.(macro/zoom/wide) Sometimes when I'm out shooting, I don't want to change lenses all the time, especially outdoors. I was just curious if anyone has used this lens and has any comments or sample photos from it? I'm hoping it will be at least as good(or should I say, not as bad) as my EF 75-300 III lens I use now. Anyone?

I would not keep my hopes up............the best thing to do is buy it, see it it works for you, and return it if it doesn't..............and then get yourself the 70-200 f4L :-P

Believe me, I would love to get an L. But for now, this is about what I can afford to spend on a lens. I just want something that will be a step up from what I'm using now and will hold me over until I can get my hands on a 70-200L..

These sample photos looks pretty good.......!! When it comes down to it, its really the photographer and the subject matter..........

28 isn't wide enough for me ...
I would stick with my current set up.

70-200 f4L
You will like the 70-200 f4L much better than the 75-300.. even at 1600 the images are crisp and clear. I was using it all this weekend, and I love the images. sharp crisp and clear. Even when I mess things up.
+ I don't like the sample photo's from that lens. 28-200 is to much of a compromise to me.

I have a Tamron 28-300mm XR Di lens and am very happy with this lens. If I can work out how to attach photographs I will send you some examples.
I also have the Canon 18-55mm lens for macro shots but have to confess to not having had the need to use it as yet.

thanks for the replies everyone. The images in the link from pbase don't look too bad. I think it would serve the purpose I want to use it for just fine until I get the L.

Not sure if you're interested, but Tamron is coming out with an 18-200mm Xr Di-II in a couple of months. It's EF-S style, though, like their upcoming 11-18mm, so it's currently 20D/Digital Rebel compatible only.
