My second image using the new 17-40 F4L i think it turned out decent if you are from the Toronto area you know we had ****ty weather today.

I really like the look of masts, very photogenic - but too bad about the water tower in the bg.

is there somthing that could have been done to this shot to turn it from a snapshot to a wall keeper?

without the water tower and I'd call it a keeper! the black & white sets a mood that colour could not have done so I think you've got it nailed.

B&W shots are harder than color to get "right". Clone the tower & I might adjust the contrast a bit. The white boats look gray & I see no detail in the black ones. Keep the sky.
