View Full Version : Is building a website to sell your photos a viable business?

Hi,

I am building a photo site for my photographer friend at www.nunukphotos.com (http://www.nunukphotos.com/). The site provides for instant image download (all rights-managed) after a PayPal payment. While I still have a lot to do on the site, it is for the most part, functional. It may be somewhat late in the game to be asking questions about the effectiveness of the business model, but I am very curious if anyone else has built a site with instant download and, if so, what kind of experience/issues they may have had?

My major concern with this approach would be that potential clients would not feel comfortable sending large sums of money “over the net” and to a company that has not got a big name (we aren’t Getty Images). Also, with only a single photographer on the site would this be turnoff to buyers because of the low volume of photos? I am just beginning efforts to drive traffic (and vastly increase content) and I am sure to hit some snags – if anyone has any heads up for me that would be great. Any comments or insights at all are also welcome.

Thanks,
Sugbo

traffic = sales

but there are so many stock agencies, with thousands of images that can be instant downloaded all of them for around 38$ per month...

first rule of business, learn from the competition and introduce product that is unique or much better...
