First sporting event with MKIII

Hey guys, here are two shots from my first sporting event using my new MKIII. The first shot is self explanatory, typical sliding collision at second base. The second photo was a hard-hit ball down the third base line. I quickly turned the camera to the third baseman and the camera nailed it. Very happy with this body thus far. Sorry for the poor uploads. Sometimes they look great, sometimes they don't.

Joe, one thing I need to say is you have a really nice Body :lol: enjoy. # 2 photo has a really odd perspective. It looks like she going to get nailed by the ball ?

Thanks Paul... She is the third baseman ball is traveling over her head, already past her as it heads to left field. So she was late in getting her glove up and not over close enough to the line.

All I can say is... I love my body, too.:oops:

Love my Mark III. Nice pictures. With the first shot, were you trying to stop the motion completely, or is that how you wanted the shot?

#2 looks like she was about 15 feet from the plate. That is a good way to improve your reaction time or loose a few teeth. :-) Nice shots. Enjoy the new camera.

Congrats, have fun, and experiment a lot to find the settings that work for you in particular situations.

First shot, yes trying to stop the action. Don't have the exif data right here, but it was at F4 and around 1/2000 shutter speed. What looks like motion blur is actually dust from the incredibly dry field. The second image, yes, girl was playing tight for the bunt, but the girl swung away. I'm amazed more girls aren't hit in the face and none of them around here use mouthguards.

Joe What settings did you use? A or T priority. M or P
I am trying to get the same photos with my kids' sports

Just experimenting with my new 70 - 200 IS f2.8

I believe I was in M for these (could have been AV as I switch around a lot). I don't use TV or P. What do you have for a camera? Makes a big difference.
